Outdoor Get-Togethers, Fireworks, and Your Pets. What the Experts Say.

Today we discuss pet safety tips for outdoor shindigs, brought to you by the AVMA and ASPCA. Check it out!

July 3, 2025

Hello, and happy 4th of July from everybody at Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services! It’s a great time of year to kick back, throw on Yankee Doodle Dandy, and embrace that American spirit.

Speaking of the American spirit, what’s more American than backyard barbecues with fireworks? Not much.

It’s easy for pets to get lost in the commotion of a backyard gathering. Usually, at least with my family, a fenced-in backyard allowed dogs from all members of the extended family to run wild during our Summer backyard extravaganzas.

While letting your pup roam free during the day is fine, once the fireworks come out, it is in the pet’s best interest to be brought indoors and away from the noise. Leaving your pet outside for celebrations can lead to unpredictable behavior, including running away!

The American Veterinary Medical Association has some great tips on how to prepare you and your pet for the big celebrations, which can be found here.

Fireworks aren’t the only hazard to your pets at cookouts, folks. Thankfully, the ASPCA has compiled a list of items commonly found in outdoor party settings that can be hazardous to your pet. See the list here.

As always, thank you from all of us at Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services, and have a happy and safe holiday!

Fleas, Ticks, and Heat: Summer Has Arrived

Ticks are bad news, and heat can be too. Today we discuss tips to dealing with both, as well as what Amber does for your pet on those hot days.

Check it out!

Hello again from our family at Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services. I hope everybody is enjoying the rain as much as our plants are here at HQ, and don’t forget those rain slickers for your seniors.

On a more serious note, flea and tick season is in full swing, and according to Mass.gov, the chances of catching a tick-borne illness are at their peak from June through August. It’s a good time to remember when your gang was last treated with a preventative and see if they are due.

There are many options out there these days, folks, including edibles, drops, and Seresto collars. Whichever you are most comfortable with, it is certainly worth doing for the health of your pet and yourself. Plus, fleas are the worst. Wins all the way, around here, folks!

One last thing to touch upon is the HEAT. We are looking at an extremely hot end to our week here in Western Massachusetts. With the temperatures rising, it can be difficult to know when it is or isn’t safe to walk our dogs. While walking in extremely hot temperatures isn’t recommended, sometimes our furry friends need to walk in order to use the bathroom. Furthermore, I’m sure some of our wonderful clients have dogs that bounce off the walls without exercise. We have one here ourselves (Love you, Clyde!).

Thankfully, there are ways to plan out short walks when necessary. The Madison Animal Clinic has some wonderful suggestions for walking in extreme temperatures. Take a look here.

Summer dates are limited, and Fall is starting to fill up fast. If you are thinking about a Winter getaway, act fast! Please contact us for availability at:

Thank you to all of our clients, and thank you to the people just checking us out as well,

Jared C., and everybody at Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services

It’s Getting Hot Out Here, so Cool Off All Your Paws!

Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services has you covered through this Summer like a shady tree. Today, we discuss not only the heat, but why you can trust Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services with your furry friends in this weather. Check it out!

Hello and happy heat wave, everybody!

Here at Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services, we offer a wide range of services besides just dog walking, up to and including overnight stays. That means we don’t take days off for the heat, so if you are relying on us, we will be there.

As these temperatures can quickly become dangerous for dogs, our clients rest easy knowing that they are getting somebody who has plenty of experience. At Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services, we bring collapsible bowls and water, and with Amber watching over your companion, they are in competent and experienced hands.

Speaking of gaining experience, we are happy to announce to our current and incoming clients that Amber has begun a series of certifications through Pet Sitters International, and she just earned her first one! These courses are legit, folks, they go over heat exhaustion symptoms as well as much more than just how to walk your pet.

Amber will be continuing to take these certification courses, which will go nicely with our excellent level of service and her already existing knowledge. It’s a win-win, folks. Amber’s Pawsitive Vibes Pet Services is only getting bigger and better, and the Amber you hire today will know more tomorrow. We are always learning as we grow.

Thank you to our past, future, and of course, current clients (love you, Preston!), and thank you for reading.
