Beyond the Basics: Custom Training for Unique Dogs

At Amber's Pawsitive Vibes, our motto is "Nervous friends need walks too." But it goes deeper than that. We believe there is no such thing as a "standard" dog, which means there shouldn't be a one-size-fits-all approach to training.

While we offer structured fundamentals, our true specialty lies in Build-Your-Own-Plan (BYOP) training. Under the guidance of our Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP), Sylvie-Grace Zacek, we build science-based, humane curriculums designed entirely around your dog’s specific physical, behavioral, and emotional realities.

Why Go Custom?

Standard hour-long obedience classes are great for many dogs, but they can be overwhelming—or physically impossible—for others. We actively design custom blueprints for:

• Dogs with Physical Limitations or Joint Issues: (e.g., Senior dogs, dogs with dwarfism, or dogs recovering from injury). We can scale our sessions down to shorter, 30-minute pacing to protect their joints while still providing excellent mental enrichment and learning.
• Highly Anxious or Nervous Dogs: For dogs who learn best in short, low-pressure bursts rather than long, demanding sessions.
• Complex Multi-Dog Households: When standard advice doesn't work because you have three dogs feeding off each other's energy. We build household management strategies that bring peace back to your living room.

Because we are a small, dedicated training team, your dog is never just a number on a roster. We take the time to read their body language, assess their physical stamina, and pivot our lesson plans in real-time. If your dog needs a highly modified learning plan, we have the advanced educational background and the heartfelt patience to create it.

How it Works:

1. The Initial Consultation: We meet with you (in-person or virtually) to discuss your dog's history, physical health, and your ultimate goals.
2. The Blueprint: We design a custom-paced training plan and recommend the exact session frequency and duration your dog needs to succeed comfortably.
3. The Progress: We work together, completely at your dog's pace.

Our Core Training Programs

Whether you are starting fresh with a new puppy or managing an adult dog with deep-rooted habits, our Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) uses 100% force-free, positive reinforcement to help your dog succeed.

Here is a look at our most popular foundational programs. All in-home sessions are 60 minutes (45 minutes of active training, plus 15 minutes of owner education and transfer).

1. The Initial Consultation & Assessment

The required first step for all new training clients. During this 90-minute behavioral history and temperament assessment (available in-person or virtually), we evaluate your dog in their natural environment. We discuss your goals, assess their physical and emotional needs, and build a tailored training blueprint. No obligation to book a package—you walk away with a professional plan.

2. Puppy & Adult Fundamentals

Available in 4-week and 6-week packages. The ultimate foundation for a well-adjusted companion. We cover core commands (Sit, Stay, Come, Down, Leave-It), impulse control, and environmental neutrality. For puppies, we heavily focus on early socialization, crate training, and potty routines. For adults, we focus on cooperative care, un-learning bad habits, and teaching your dog to focus on you amidst distractions.

3. No-Pull Loose Leash & Heavy Puller Program

Available in 4-week packages. Take the stress (and the shoulder pain) out of your daily walks. This program is specifically designed to teach leash dynamics, engagement, and safe walking habits. We specialize in heavy pullers and XL breeds, focusing on equipment desensitization and rewarding proximity so you can finally enjoy walking together.
